Thuja (Western Red Cedar) hedging and specimen plants are the best hedging conifer for the UK. Thuja is less vigorous then leylandii hedging, breaking from old wood, so they are easier to prune. Thuja is tolerant of heavy soils and should be one conifer more widely grown especially in coastal situations. Ultimate height and spread - 20-30m in 20 years.
Where to Plant
Plant full sun to partial shade, moist, well-draining soil. Planting should be about 60cm apart for hedge. Approximate weight of each rootball 27kg
NOTE: Scot Plants Direct can only supply Rootballed plants when they are dormant during the winter months but you can PRE ORDER now to ensure an early delivery date at the start of the season in November.
