Privet Hedging is fast growing for screening or boundary planting. Privet is one of the most popular plant for hedging in the UK. It is fast growing, easy to maintain and a good alternative to Leylandii conifer hedge plants. Garden privet is tolerant of most soil types, and will grow to about 5m.
Its dense small leaf, green foliage is easy to prune and semi-evergreen characteristics make it a good screening and windbreak hedge plant in the winter. It is easy to grow, and can be planted full sun to partial shade.
Where to Plant
Plant 3 per metre for single row hedge, and 4-5 for double staggered row denser hedge. Ultimate height and spread 2-4m x 2-3m.
