First leaves appear copper brown in spring, become purple in summer, copper yellow in autumn. Purple Beech has the best Spring and Autumn Colour, and like Green Beech retains its leaves in winter providing year-round shelter and privacy. Fully Hardy, tough plant and native to the UK. Where to Grow
Plant full sun to partial shade, well draining, moist soil. Plant 3 per metre single row, 5+ per metre, double staggered row for dense hedge. Ultimate height and spread 8m x 1.5m in 10 years.
