English Holly (Ilex aquifolium) hedge plants are great evergreen plants for severe climates, like those in Scotland. Holly spiny leaves and dense growth are great security barriers. They are native to the UK and a perfect evergreen hedging plant - gives that "Instant privacy and screening". Common Holly hedging plants are tolerant of dry shade, once established, well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Plant 1 per metre for best hedge growing. Ultimate height and spread - 10-20m x 6m. Plant full sun to dappled shade, well draining soil.
