Pyracantha is a large evergreen or semi- evergreen shrub commonly known as ‘firethorn’. They are native to an area that extends from Southwest Europe to Southeast Asia and are related to the Cotoneaster family. Pyracantha Soleil d’Or’ bears white flowers from late spring to early summer followed by yellow / orange berry fruit late summer to late autumn that will provide food for wildlife.
Pyracantha are ideal for creating that natural, impenetrable security barrier in the garden, yet provide colour during those winter months. They are also valuable sources of nectar for bees. Heights and spread- 3m x 2m.
Where to Plant:
Plant in situations that face any direction, in sun or shade in most soil types except boggy areas. Plant 3-5 per metre, single row for hedge.
