Once established they form a dense, vigorous green wall that takes hard pruning, tolerates shade, and gives full year-round coverage. Common / Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus / rotundifolia) — the classic, fast-growing screening hedge with broad glossy leaves. Standard spacing 60-90cm between plants.

Portuguese Laurel (Prunus lusitanica) — smaller darker leaves, more compact habit, takes formal shaping. Good box substitute at greater height.
