Plant Guarantee

At ScotPlants Direct, we supply high-quality plants grown for UK conditions. However, as plants are living products, successful establishment depends on correct planting and aftercare.

We offer a 12 Month Plant Guarantee to support you — providing replacement plants where failure occurs, strictly subject to the conditions below being met in full.


Guarantee Conditions (Mandatory)

To qualify for the 12 Month Plant Guarantee, the following requirements must be followed:

1. Use Rootgrow & Fertiliser (Mandatory Requirement)

Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungi and a suitable fertiliser must be purchased and used at the time of planting.

These are essential for root establishment and significantly reduce plant losses.
Failure to use these products will invalidate the guarantee.


2. Prepare the Planting Area Correctly

The planting area must be:

  • Properly cultivated
  • Free from weeds and competing vegetation
  • Suitable for the plant type and conditions

Poor ground preparation will invalidate the guarantee.


3. Correct Planting & Aftercare

Plants must be:

  • Planted correctly using Rootgrow and fertiliser
  • Firmed in securely and supported where required
  • Watered thoroughly at planting
  • Watered regularly during establishment

You must ensure plants are not allowed to dry out, become waterlogged, or suffer avoidable stress.


Ongoing Care Requirements

To remain eligible under the guarantee, plants must be properly maintained:

  • Keep planting areas weed-free during establishment
  • Water consistently, particularly in dry or warm weather
  • Protect plants from wind, frost, pests, and grazing damage
  • Use stakes, guards, or supports where appropriate
  • Apply seasonal care where required (e.g. frost protection)

Failure due to neglect or insufficient aftercare is not covered.

  • Inspected on arrival for quality and health
  • Maintained in optimal conditions prior to dispatch
  • Carefully packed to ensure safe delivery

Claims Process

If you believe plants have failed:

  1. Contact us with clear photos
  2. Our team will assess the condition and advise
  3. Where failure is confirmed, we will arrange replacements

We may request evidence that planting and aftercare requirements have been followed.


Replacement Terms

  • Replacements are provided like-for-like from the original order
  • The guarantee applies once only — replacement plants are not covered
  • No refunds are offered under this guarantee
  • Customers are responsible for replacement delivery costs

Delivery Charges:

  • Per box: £9.99
  • Per pallet: £95.00
  • Specialist deliveries: Quoted as required

Exclusions

This guarantee does not cover failure caused by:

  • Failure to use Rootgrow and fertiliser at planting
  • Poor planting technique or unsuitable ground conditions
  • Lack of watering or general aftercare
  • Extreme weather (drought, flooding, frost, storms)
  • Pest, disease, or animal damage beyond reasonable control
  • Environmental or site-specific issues
