Laurel (prunus) Hedging
Bare-root Laurel hedging plants are the most economical way to plant a long laurel hedge. Tough evergreen shrubs with fast growth and thick glossy leaves — once established they form a dense, vigorous screen that handles hard pruning and tolerates shade. Laurel is the workhorse of UK boundary and privacy hedging, and bare-root is the budget option for longer runs.
Bare-root Laurel — November to April only
Bare-root plants are lifted from the field while dormant and despatched without compost or pots. Cheaper per metre than pot-grown laurel and excellent for establishment, but only available during the dormant window (November to April). Plant as soon as you receive them.
-
Common Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus / rotundifolia) — the classic fast-growing screening hedge. Standard spacing 60-90cm between plants.
-
Cherry Laurel — same species, alternative naming, broad glossy leaves.
Pre-order now for early November delivery to your door. Bulk discounts on larger orders — the more you buy, the better the per-plant price.
Need year-round laurel or larger plants?
If you’re outside the bare-root window, see our pot-grown Laurel hedging for any-month planting (including Common, Cherry and Portuguese varieties), or our rootball Laurel for larger established plants.
