Alder Common (Alnus Glutinosa)

Alder (Alnus glutinosa) plants are a group of very useful, quick growing deciduous trees which thrive in poor, wet or waterlogged soil and exposed sites. Common Alder is an excellent native tree for wet soils, river or pond banks and boggy sites. Alder has stunning yellow catkins (best on male plants) in spring and small cones in autumn. Alder is unbeatable for use in windswept areas and coastal conditions and Alder can be used as a specimen tree or as hedging.
