Golden Leylandii (Castlewellan Gold) hedging is the most popular and most unloved conifer in the UK.
Castlewellan Gold Leylandii makes a superb tall columnar specimen tree and a fast growing vigorous hedge or screen with green-yellow foliage. Golden Leylandii hedges can grow 1m per year and when managed correctly can provide that 'instant' screening effect for privacy. It is a very versatile plant, tolerates most soil types and excellent for coastal conditions. Leylandii will not break well from old wood, so be careful when pruning. Fully hardy. Ultimate height and spread - 8-10m. Plant full sun to partial shade, most soil types. For hedge plant 1 per metre.
