Field Maple - Acer Campestre
Makes a wonderful hedging plant especially in any setting and is very popular as Hawthorn or Blackthorn. Generally Ace Campestre is a medium sized tree growing to about 15m. Colourful specimen with its autumn creamy yellow colour and one of the best native UK trees. Field Maple will tolerate most sites and best on shallow limestone soil. As a hedge, it can be pruned back hard and will create a strong stock proof hedge.

Where to Grow:
Plant full sun to partial shade, well-draining. Perfect for windy sites, hedging, firewood, pollarding or coppicing. Other uses for small garden tree, specimen tree, farmland. Easy to grow and maintain. Ultimate height and spread 10m x 10m in 10-20 years.
