Description

Compact Weigela plant native to Japan and areas of China.  Middendorffiana is an unusual profuse lemmon-yellow flowered Weigela, mildly scented.  Flower trumpets are uncommonly bell shaped, primrose yellow with a slight orange blotch on the lower petal usually in early summer.  Middendorffiana is a favourite of bees and other pollinators as its unusual yellow trumpets attract wildlife into the garden.  Ultimate height and spread 1.5m in 10-20 years.  Low maintenance and a winner for any garden.  Prefers chalky, clay, loamy or sandy soils, but will tolerate most types.
