The Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia) is one of Scotland's most common tree. The berries that the Rowan produces makes an excellent source of food for birds and are usually red.
Easy to grow - considered 'Good Luck' for gardens. Most of the Rowan trees have tiny pinnate leaves and are perfect for under planting with other shrubs and perennials and one of the best trees to grow with rhododendrons. In May - June Sorbus Trees produce a mass of tiny white - cream flowers followed by masses of berries. Easy to grow, and they say to have one in your garden is "good luck".
Common questions
Bare root plants are field-grown and lifted dormant — the cheapest way to plant a hedge. Pot grown plants have an established root system and can be planted year-round. Root ball plants are mature field-grown plants lifted with a soil ball for instant height.
Pot grown plants can go in the ground at any time of year. Bare root is supplied dormant from November to March, and root ball plants are lifted in that same window.
