Description
Skimma japonica Rubella is the male variety of Skimmia with stunning dark-green leaves edged in red and deep rich red almost purple tight flower buds during the autumn and winter months. Panicles of scented white flowers burst into bloom right through to spring. Skimmia foliage is dark green, scented and tinged pink at the leaf edges. Water well on planting and during establishment. Mulch with ericaceous compost and granular type of fertiliser each spring. Skimmia will make a fantastic, low maintenance hedge as well!!
Where to Plant
Plant partial shade, well-draining, moist soil. Awarded RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit). Fully hardy. Low maintenance – no pruning required Ultimate spread and height – 0.75 x 0.75 in 10-20 years.
