Where to Plant

Plant full sun to dappled shade, well-draining soil. Laburnum trees do not like waterlogged areas or heavy soils.  Ultimate height and spread 5-10m x 0-5m 20 years.

NOTE: ScotPlantsDirect can only supply Bare Root Trees when they are dormant during the winter months but you can PRE ORDER now to ensure an early delivery date at the start of the season in November.

Common questions

Bare root plants are field-grown and lifted dormant — the cheapest way to plant a hedge. Pot grown plants have an established root system and can be planted year-round. Root ball plants are mature field-grown plants lifted with a soil ball for instant height.
Pot grown plants can go in the ground at any time of year. Bare root is supplied dormant from November to March, and root ball plants are lifted in that same window.
3 plants per metre for a standard single-row hedge, or 5 per metre (staggered double row) for a dense screen.
