English Yew Hedging 60-80cm Root Ball (Taxus baccata)

English Yew (Taxus baccata) is the finest formal evergreen hedge: dense, dark green, long-lived and tolerant of hard clipping and shade. Supplied 60-80cm tall as a field-grown root ball for the best possible establishment; plant 3 per metre. Slower growing at 20-30cm a year, so buy the height you want.

Planting

Plant as soon as possible after delivery in a trench with the top of the root ball level with the soil, firm in well, water thoroughly and keep watered through the first spring and summer. Leave the hessian on; it rots away.

Bare root plants are field-grown and lifted dormant — the cheapest way to plant a hedge. Pot grown plants have an established root system and can be planted year-round. Root ball plants are mature field-grown plants lifted with a soil ball for instant height.
Pot grown plants can go in the ground at any time of year. Bare root is supplied dormant from November to March, and root ball plants are lifted in that same window.
