Description

Discovery Apples are an early fruiting dessert apple with bright crimson fruit with possibly streaks of green.  Bite into the creamy flesh of the Discovery apple and enjoy a special but different tasting apple.  Discovery is juicy and crisp with a hint of strawberry sweet flavour which may not be present every year and a bit of tart flavour.  Absolutely a wonderful eating experience!  Added bonus if the crop is large - then Discovery apples make a great juice apple!

Discovery is considered the best apple for areas like Scotland and the north of the United Kingdom.

Where to Plant

Picking time is August with good crops.Ultimate height 5.5m. Best Partners for better pollination are Cox's Orange Pippin, Gala, James Grieve, Spartan.  Check out Rootstock on our apple tree.

**Scot Plants Direct can only supply bareroot plants when they are dormant during the winter months from November to March annually.

Common questions

Bare root plants are field-grown and lifted dormant — the cheapest way to plant a hedge. Pot grown plants have an established root system and can be planted year-round. Root ball plants are mature field-grown plants lifted with a soil ball for instant height.
Pot grown plants can go in the ground at any time of year. Bare root is supplied dormant from November to March, and root ball plants are lifted in that same window.
3 plants per metre for a standard single-row hedge, or 5 per metre (staggered double row) for a dense screen.
