Characteristics
Blueberry Sierra is a fantastic northern highbush blueberry plant ideal for the colder areas of the UK. It is an early to mid-season fruiting variety with bigger than average fruit.
Sierra is ideal for container and landscape use especially with its fiery red foliage in the autumn making Sierra an outstanding garden feature.
Where to Plant:
Pick a place in the garden that has good drainage, and sun for the fruit production. Blueberry plants should be planted in ericaceous soil with a pH of about 4.5-5.5. Amend the soil by adding in some ericaceous compost and mix well (rhododendron or azalea compost) and then plant the bush. A good water supply is a must, especially during fruit set, enlargement and ripening. Insufficient water results in small, poor quality berries.
