Description

Bergenia cordifolia or Elephants Ears are evergreen tough perennials with broad, leathery leaves perfect for a dense groundcover plant. Bergenia are green in summer the rounded foliage becomes tinted purple in winter – making this a popular plant for any garden.  Naturally found in Siberia it can withstand cold temperatures. Bright magenta-pink flowers on erect clusters on red stems reaching a height up to 50cm in the spring. Ultimate height and spread – 1m x 0.5m in five years.  Ideal for ground cover, banks and slopes, city and country gardens, under planting roses, shrubs and just what the doctor ordered for coastal situations.  Awarded Garden of Merit Award.

Plant full sun to partial shade, well-draining soil - dislikes hot, dry conditions.
