Weigela Minor Black is a splendid low growing Weigela with rich dark leaf tones. Minor Black manages to keep its colour all season, complementing charcoal tones with bright, rosy-pink blooms that butterflies cannot resist.
Minor Black growth habit is spreading and mounding, not aggressive and a good to have around other ground covers and small perennials. Its new spring foliage emerges nearly black, turning deep maroon to violet as the season advances and heat intensifies. It may have olive coloured streaks mid-summer, but the basic ‘black’ of the foliage is never lost.
Minor Black blooms are a stunning contrast to its foliage. Large, tubular and in small clusters, a combination of rose and pink tones just for maximum show. Expect Minor Black to reach a height of about 18-24 inches.
Where to Plant:
Minor Black is best planted in full sun to dappled shade. The ground should be well draining, moist, and not water logged. Perfect for beds and borders, groundcover, foreground planting for taller shrubs.
