Description
Sambucus Black Beauty is a new introduction with dramatic very dark purple almost black foliage. Black Beauty grabs your attention and then decides to reward you with a dramatic display throughout the summer season. Also known as 'Gerda' its dark intense purple foliage is more effective and long lasting than that of other cultivars. Its flowers are large often 10 inch cymes of pink scented with citrus - which no other shrub offers! The shiny black berries that follow are prolific and weigh the branches down - perfect for that elderberry wine or jam. Easy to grow and maintain. Ultimate height ant spread 2.5m x 0.5m in 5-10 years.
Where to Plant
Plant full sun for best leaf colour. Tolerates most soil types, well-draining.
