Description
Clethra Ruby Spice produces plush pink clusters of flowers that bloom from July to September. The racemes of flowers resemble that of buddlieja, and are scented, attracting butterflies and birds into the garden.
Clethra alnifolia is commonly called Summersweet, is a deciduous shrub that thrives in woodlands, wet marshlands stream banks and seashores in sandy soils along the coasts.
Ruby Spice has the RHS Award of Garden Merit as it is easy to grow, low maintenance.
Where to Plant
Plant in partial to dappled shade, moist, but well-draining acidic soil. Hardy in most places in the UK but not extremely exposed areas. Ultimate height and spread 2.5m x 2.5m in about 10 years
