A sensational native to Western China Clerodendrum trichotomum fargesii is a deciduous large shrub or small tree. Outstanding specimen with its young purple leaves turning green with age and highly fragrant flowers produced from midsummer to autumn followed by bright blue berries turning black contrasting well with red calyces.
Clerodendrum trichotomum flowers from July to October with the fragrant white flowers enclosed by colourful maroon calyces making this one of the more dramatic late flowering small trees.
Where to Plant
Best planted in dappled shade to sun. May afford some shelter, but generally hardy. Soil should be acidic pH 4.5-6.0, moist but well-draining. Keep moist all season, especially during dry spells. Ultimate height and spread 125-150cm in about 10 years.
