Magnolia Black Tulip is perhaps one of the most breath-taking magnolias. Its flowers are goblet shaped, one of the darkest pink almost purple flowers almost 15cm across, making Black Tulip a dramatic garden specimen.
Magnolia Black Tulip is an upright deciduous tree with a vigorous growing habit. Hardy to most areas in the UK, can be more wind tolerant than other magnolias but would be happier with a bit of shelter. First blooms may not reflect the true colour of the Black Tulip or size, but as it matures this magnolia will be a showstopper.
Where to Plant
Plant full sun to partial shade, south or west facing. Soil should be well draining, moist. Magnolia Black Tulip will benefit from a bit of shelter. Ultimate height and spread about 4.8m x 4.8m in about 20 years for ultimate height.
