Description
Magnolia denudata Sunrise is a slow growing, deciduous compact, upright, shrub with ovate, mid green leaves in spring. Lovely leaves emerge in spring with a unique large fragrant goblet shaped flowers with creamy-white petals and a reddish triangle at the base of each petal leading upward to the top of the petal. A truly spectacular magnolia perfect for small tree for any garden! Ultimate height and spread – 1.8m x 1.8m in 10-20 years. Plant full sun to partial shade, well draining, acidic, moist soil. Sunrise is hardy to about -25 degrees C. Magnolias should not be pruned, but can be trimmed to shape or to reduce size.
Where to Plant
Plant full sun to partial shade, well-draining, slightly acidic soil. Sunrise does not like 'wet feet' This should be done right after flowering to secure setting of flower buds for the following year.
