Yew (Taxus baccata) is one of the few native evergreen trees in the UK. Often seen in churchyards, and for hedging for generations. Unlike other conifer hedging plants, Yew can be pruned back to the wood and sprout again. They are easier to maintain and manage and make a spectacular hedge plant for borders, screening or specimen trees. Taxus baccata is ideal for topiary as you can shape when mature. If planting for hedging, plant 1-2 per metre.
Where to Plant
Plant full sun to partial shade, well draining, moist soil. Avoid waterlogged sites. Rootball plants should be planted with the hessian wrap intact, as it is biodegradable. Ultimate height and spread 6m x 1.5m + in 10-20 years..
IMPORTANT: Minimum order size of 10 recommended as this product is heavy and needs to be delivered on a pallet. There is a 7-10 day lead time for rootball despatch from date of order as rootballs are lifted and prepared to order.
