Description
Leyland cypress is a fast-growing conifer popular for hedges and windbreak. Cupressocyparis leylandii 'Gold Rider' is one of the best yellow of the fast-growing conifers. It’s yellow colour almost shimmers in the sunlight commanding an opulent yet subtle hedge.
The lime green interior growth of Gold Rider provides the tree with a stunning contrast to the outer stunning yellow colour. It has merited the reputation of being one of the best of the golden foliage conifers.
Cupressocyparis Leyland Gold Rider has a pyramidal growth form with flat sprays that are bright yellow at the tips and then darkens to a lime green producing a stunning eye-catching combination of colour that makes Gold Rider stand out from other conifers and is considered one of the best if not the best golden foliaged conifer.
This Leyland cypress is prefect for hedging and windbreak as it grows fast, easy to maintain, and its stunning colour will be an outstanding feature.
Where to Plant
Plant 75cm - 1.25cm apart for a screen or hedge or 2-3 per metre. Likes full sun to partial shade. Fully hardy. Plant in well-draining soil, can tolerate clay and sand, acid or alkaline soils. It may not grow as fast in some soils as it does in others, but in 10 years it should be about 10ft with ultimate height to 35ft and a spread of 15ft.
