Half High cultivars are a cross between the Northern Highbush and Lowbush blueberry bushes. These are generally the lower growing, more compact bushes that can carry a snow load without damage to the branches. The berry quality is very good as these Half-Highs were bred for their exceptional cold hardiness as well as being a great ornamental bush. North Country is the perfect blueberry plant for the chiller areas of the UK.
North Country is an early / mid, hardy blueberry, has excellent fall colour and produces a bumper crop of tasty, sweet, blue coloured fruit in summer. It is one of the most popular blueberry bushes for container growing. North Country will grow to about 24 inches tall at maturity with a spread of about 3 feet. This blueberry bush is a fantastic edible for containers to keep on your deck, or patio, or if out in the garden in the border for easy fruit picking.
North Country has beautiful green foliage most of the season, turning an outstanding scarlet in the fall.
Where to Plant
Best planted in full sun for optimal fruit crops, good drainage, and the shallow fibrous roots need constant moisture. The soil for good blueberry culture should be modified toward high acidity (pH 4.0-5.0).
