Courgettes are easy to grow, highly productive plants with loads of green, delicious courgettes for use in almost everything from salads to the BBQ!!!. Plant in sunny position with some shelter from cold wind. Make sure the area is well draining, and soil is good compost mixed with good topsoil. Courgette Plants are very thirsty plants, so water regularly to the roots, avoid wetting the leaves to prevent rot. Courgette plants can be subject to powdery mildew (fungal infection) and of course slugs, aphids and whitefly. It is important to keep the area round the plant clear of debris and keeping the leaves dry (best to water in the morning). When the plant begins to fruit, fertilise regularly with a high potash feed.
