Acer rubrum or the Red Maple is a stunning medium sized deciduous tree native to North America but now seen more often in Europe and the UK. It can grow faster than Norway Maple trees, but this particular tree loves the more wet areas. It is usually spotted in wet woods, slightly boggy areas. Developing new leaf growth are red or red tinged, with stunning fall colours or orange and red when mature. Leaves on the Autumn Flame are the usual maple lobe shape, with toothed margins. Autumn Flame is the male selection that is noted for its abundance of leaves and the more noted excellent vibrant fall colours.
