Willows (Salix) are native and deciduous. Spring sees the emergence of beautiful fluffy catkins. Female catkins are silver coloured and male catkins are golden and hairy. The catkins appear before the leaves contrasting beautifully against the bark- leaves are soft mint green, oval shaped. Wildlife love the nectar from the catkins. Willows will tolerate all soil conditions, especially wet as well as dry. Fast growing.
